UNESCO CENTER FOR GLOBAL FRIENDSHIP

PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy on the Internet is of paramount importance to the UNESCO Center for Global Friendship, Inc. (“UCGF”).  We value your visit to the UCGF website, and we will ensure the necessary and appropriate steps are implemented to protect your personal information.
This privacy statement describes UCGF’s policy concerning the gathering and sharing of visitors’ information through the UCGF website.  It applies to all “UCGF sites” – that is, all sites within the “unescocgf.org” domain name.  You should note that through this site you may reach or be directed to other sites that relate to UNESCO Clubs, Centers, and Associations, or other entities around the world whose job is to support UNESCO; all these sites have their own privacy statements which are similar to this one but may vary slightly.

By accessing or using the UCGF website, you signify that you have read this Privacy Policy, and you expressly consent to our collection, use, disclosure, storage and protection of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

What information does UCGF collect?

Normal website usage

In general, you can browse the UCGF site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself.  We do not collect personally identifiable information from individuals unless they provide such information to us knowingly and voluntarily.  The only information we gather during general browsing is from standard server logs.  These include your IP (Internet Protocol) address, domain name, browser type, operating system, and information such as the web site that referred you to us, the files you downloaded, the pages you visit, and the dates/times of those visits.  When prompted by the website, a visitor may be asked to voluntarily submit his/her personally identifiable information, such as: names, addresses, zip/postal codes, email addresses, etc

Collection of personally identifiable information

If you register for a newsletter, log on to certain UCGF sites, request information, provide feedback, apply for a volunteer position, join a discussion group or join an electronic mailing list, you will be asked to provide personal information, which may include your name, postal address and e-mail address.  This information is collected only with your knowledge and permission, and is kept in various UCGF databases.  If you are purchasing something on our website (e.g., membership fees), or donate financially, you may be asked to provide your credit card details.

UCGF may receive and store the information that you enter on our website, provide to us on our membership/sponsorship application page, provide to us on our volunteer opportunities page, or submit to us in any other way related to advancing UCGF’s mission.  At your discretion, you can opt to not provide some or all of the information requested by us on our website.  This information is solely used by UCGF and other UCGF-related entities in furtherance of UCGF’s charitable activities.

Automatically collected information

Whenever you interact with UCGF, we receive and store certain types of information. For example, we may use “cookies” to obtain information when your web browser accesses this website.  A cookie is an alphanumeric identifier, which we transfer to your computer via your Web browser and store on your computer’s hard drive.

UCGF’s websites may use cookies to provide statistics or otherwise collect data in order to give you the best experience when visiting our site.  We use cookies to recognize you as a user, customize services, perform a range of analytics, mitigate risk, prevent potential fraud, and to promote trust and safety across our site.  You may switch off your cookies settings if you prefer; however, by continuing to use our site without changing settings, you agree to our use of cookies.  On most conventional web browsers you will find a “help” section on the toolbar.  Please refer to this section for information on how to receive notifications when you are receiving a new cookie, and how to turn cookies off.

Certain aspects and features of our website are only available through the use of cookies, so if you choose to disable or decline cookies, your use of our website may be limited or not possible.  The use of cookies by third parties on the website is for the purpose of making the website easier to use and to enable certain features of the Website and is not covered by this Privacy Policy.  We do not have control over these cookies.

While using our website, you may join an electronic discussion board.  By joining and posting information on an electronic discussion group, participants from the discussion group (including non-UCGF employees) will see personal information that you have volunteered.  For open discussion groups, this information will be public.
